At the age of ten, Tony Marvelli started playing trumpet. Some of Tony's influences include trumpet masters such as Clifford Brown, Lee Morgan, Chet Baker, Miles Davis, and Freddy Hubbard. He has had the opportunity to studie with outstanding teachers including Steve Russo, Jay Saunders, Mike Steinel, Lynn Seaton, and Stefan Karlsson. After graduating American River College with an Associate of Arts degree in music, Tony studied at the University of North Texas and obtained Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies Performance. While in Texas he worked with several cover bands, pit orchestras, salsa bands, Latin bands, and different jazz ensembles from large to small, including the famous Guy Lombardo Orchestra under the direction of Al Pierson. Tony has traveled the world on cruise ships, working in the show band. He has played at the Sacramento Jazz Festival nine years in a row including backing up Jo Ann Castle, Lin Biviano and Stan Mark. He has recently toured with artists such as Engelbert Humperdinck and Paul Anka throughout Asia and the USA.
